I see the forest and the trees. I can take a step back and develop high-level messages, then dig deep into the details necessary to bring communications plans to life. My most rewarding work days are spent figuring out what a client needs to say and how we’re going to say it to accomplish their goals.

During my nearly 20 years working in communications, public affairs, and marketing, I’ve strategized and implemented forward-thinking communications plans. As a member of small internal teams, I honed my skills as a communications generalist, ready to tackle nearly any communications task thrown my way — from strategy and content development to writing, editing, and project management.

Now as a consultant, I relish how each client and project requires a different lens. While most of my background is in philanthropy, higher education, and K-12 education, my experience is applicable to any industry. I approach each client with fresh eyes, ready to find the best approach to their needs.

“Talya is one of my favorite editors to work with. She’s clear about the scope of a story and supportive when I need to talk through an issue. Her editorial and narrative sensibilities strengthen the drafts I send her way. As a freelancer, a good editor is a godsend, which is why when Talya asks, the answer is yes.”

— Monica Villavicencio, Co-founder of Xerophile Studios

“When I shared an idea with Talya, she would always distill it, make it better, and then see it through to fruition. I really can't say enough good things about Talya, and would work with her again in a heartbeat!”

— Stephanie Carlos, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs (and former Associate Director of Admissions) at University of San Francisco School of Law
